Hamburg, St. Pauli, New Years Eve. The maddest night of the year. The whole Kiez abuzz with readiness. Oskar Wrobel not so much. His life as he knows it is drawing to a close. But there’s always room for even worse news…

Oskar runs a music club in a derelict hospital at the end of the Reeperbahn. His friends are strange, but splendid. Girls like him. His life is a conga. But the music is about to stop. As, whilst firecrackers explode on the streets of St.Pauli, the preparations are in full swing for the grand demolition-party. Oskar has debts up to his eyeballs and no idea what’s going to come of him. Luckily there’s little time to think about this before a desperate ex-pimp storms his flat, his best friend crumbles under fame, the fun loving Nina paints every surface black, chaos spreads throughout the club, then there’s Dead Elvis, the Lady Senator and — Mathilda, Mathilda, Mathilda.

Whilst the hero of the story tries to stay upright, he asks himself the following questions: What the fuck? Why? And how does one become a good person?
